If you are visiting Tuscany you must go truffle hunting with Mirco! Mirco has an incredible wealth of knowledge about truffles and the landscape. He is also very kind and goes out of his way to make sure that his guests are comfortable and enjoying the experience. My husband and I went in February as a Valentine’s day date and we are so glad we did! We loved being away from the city and in nature. We found plenty of truffles, but finding the truffles is only half of the fun! A big part of what makes the experience so great is running around in the woods with the dogs (Heidi and Zara) and taking in some of Tuscany’s most breathtaking landscapes. My husband and I will definitely be going back in the spring!

Mirco è una persona gentile e generosa, che ti introduce ai tartufi senza risparmiare dettagli interessanti e arricchendo il tutto con aneddoti di esperienze vissute di persona. La passeggiata con i suoi splendidi cani, tra i profumi di queste terre, è una bella esperienza che consiglio a chi ama i boschi, i cani, i tartufi e la micologia. Quello dei tartufi è un mondo estremamente affascinante che merita di essere approfondito non solo sui libri, ma anche attraverso un’esperienza come quella offerta da Mirco.

Mirco was very friendly and forgiving of the fact that we were very late! He was warm and encouraged us to have a go with his supervision we could see it wouldn’t have been possible to find the truffles without his knowledge and I honestly couldn’t have distinguished some earth from the truffles because there was vegetation or stones that looked the same colour or texture. Also to preserve where the dogs or move on if they stop and move on. A genuine guy thanks Mirco!

The experience was great even though we didn’t find any truffles. Spending time with Mirco and his dogs as well as seeing the countryside was well with the trip.

This was truly a uniquely wonderful experience! Mirco was a great host and we had so much fun. The dogs are amazing and so cute and we found a nice sized truffle! It was a very authentic and exciting part of our Tuscan vacation. I highly recommend this!

My husband and I went to Italy celebrating our 10 yr anniversary.. planned to just drive up through Tuscany and visit some hilltop towns and eat, eat and eat some more, soaking it up! But when we realized it was truffle season – we were ecstatic! We love truffles.. not knowing much more than beyond our love for the taste, we were curious about them. When I found Mirco’s tour, I knew we had to do as he was so close to us in San Gimignano! Mirco is very friendly and knowledgeable and excited to share his hobby, and man what a lucrative hobby it is! He can bring in some serious $$ for these little stinky truffle guys, and it was fun hearing about how he got started on it. What an exciting relaxing adventure.. he took us out in the wilderness with his pups, explaining all about the truffle, and just when we thought we wouldn’t find one.. both dogs ran to a spot and starting digging like CRAZY fast, and he had to tackle one of them to ensure she wouldn’t eat the prized nugget. .the digging began, and Mirco smelled the dirt, sqeaked with excitement and showed us – the dirt smelled like a ripe potent truffle all right! Then he found her…looking like a dirt covered piece of ginger, he carefully extracted her, because a broken truffle is worth less that a while one. It was like we were paleontologists looking for dinosaur bones! So much fun. And he gave us a few small truffles to take home.. YUM! Going to cook those up tonight for dinner with pasta. The truffles alone were with the price of the adventure! You will not be disappointed! Thanks again Mirco! So great meeting you – XOXO Steph & Eric

Amazing experience! Despite the weather we found a truffle. And even without that it was interesting to know what is like to hunt for truffle. Small dogs are funny and touchable) big dogs are more concentrated on searching. And our host Mirco is very kind person. Nothing but positive emotions after this experience.

Excellent experience!! Mirco is an awesome guide for truffle hunting. The 2 dogs are super cute and they are such a perfect hunter! We found 2 white truffles in 2 hours exploration. Highly recommended things to try in Tuscany!
